Georgetown Law has received a $300,000 gift from the firm Cassidy Levy Kent in memory of the firm’s partner John D. Greenwald, who passed away last year. The John D. Greenwald Memorial Endowment will support student writing awards and annual events and lectures on international trade law.
The John D. Greenwald Memorial Endowed Fund will be managed by the Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL) and will support a lecture series accompanying one of Georgetown’s premier international trade events, the International Trade Update. The International Trade Update routinely attracts some of the most important decision-makers in the field; this year’s event was held at Georgetown University Law Center on February 25 and 26.
“We are deeply honored to receive this generous gift from Cassidy Levy Kent,” said Georgetown Law Dean William M. Treanor in a statement. “The endowment will allow us to continue the outstanding work John did in the field of international trade law. There will be countless generations of students who will receive the writing award in John’s name. I can’t think of a more fitting tribute.”
