IIEL is pleased to announce the 2017 SIEL/JIEL/OUP Essay Prize for the best essay on any topic in the field of international economic law. Sponsored by the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL), the Journal of International Economic Law (JIEL) and Oxford University Press (OUP), 2017 entries are due on January 15, 2017.
The competition is open to all current undergraduate or graduate University (or other tertiary educational institution) students, and those who have graduated no earlier than five years before the submission deadline. Co-authorship is permitted, provided all authors meet the stated eligibility conditions. SIEL Executive Council members may not submit entries. The essay must not have been previously published.
The prize consists of three awards:
- £400 of Oxford University Press book vouchers; and a
- 3-year JIEL subscription.
The winner will also receive free entry to the 2017 Annual WTO Conference co-sponsored by IIEL, the Graduate Institute, Geneva, the British Institute of International & Comparative Law and SIEL. There, the winner will be given the opportunity to present on a panel, or via a poster presentation. The winning essay will be submitted to the JIEL for publication, subject to JIEL’s standard protocols for review of submissions.
The prize will be awarded by the SIEL Executive Council, on the recommendation of a Prize Committee drawn from its members and the JIEL Editorial Board.
